57 pupils from the age of 5-21 took part in this show on Saturday 31st October. And what a fabulous show it was- enjoyed by all the pupils and the audience alike! It has to be said that NLDA excelled themselves in their performances and behaviour, every participant giving 100%. The chaperones, although they had their hands full with so many to assist, had a fabulous time with pupils who were well mannered and well behaved. There were 5 schools taking part, ours being the biggest group. Therefore, half the audience was from NLDA and they were a great support for the children.
Our first piece was a Musical Theatre compilation called “This is Halloween” arranged by Miss Jenna Rushton. There were some outstanding performances in this but the show was definitely stolen by the very humerus role of the Oogie Boogie Man played by the lovely Lydia Hoy.
The second dance was the Addams Family, choreographed by Miss Courtney Ewel. This displayed our younger group and it was a delightfully, neat little dance with hilarious acting form our little Morticias, Wednesdays and Uncle Festers.
Our third dance was the haunting pice entitled “Ring a ring a roses” choreographed by Miss Hayley Skyner. The senior girls costumed themselves, and there were some amazing ensembles which were appropriately blood spattered and with horrific make up that the kids had a ball creating. At the beginning of this dance the tech guys messed up the music and the girls very professionally just held their places. The curtains were closed and one of the girls, Sofia Tolcher, was left in front of the curtains holding her dolly😜 The compare filled in and Sofia remained on stage and acted, causing the audience to howl with laughter. Well done Sofia, very professional !!
Our last piece was also created by Miss Hayley, and it was called “The Dead Doll”. This group was our Gifted and Talented ballet group who performed excellently and portrayed the story very well.
All the schools took part in the Finale which was the Time Warp. Miss Hayley and Avril Martin were very active in the audience, joining in with the song and entertaining our parents.
I think it is safe to say the day was enjoyed by all and that we would happily take part in this event again. All at NLDA would like Dance Design Events for a very well organised production!
